Randa’s Roundup of what’s going on in and around Kensington this July![]() Serpentine Galleries With temperatures setting new records this summer, how lucky are we to have on our doorstep somewhere as gorgeous to cool off as Kensington Park? Every year millions of Londoners and tourists visit Kensington Gardens, one of the capital's eight Royal Parks. Iconic sites such as Kensington Palace, the Italian Gardens, the Albert Memorial, the Peter Pan Statue and the Serpentine Galleries & all located within its 242 acres. The Serpentine Gallery has just unveiled its 15th annual summer pavilion, bringing a touch of Glastonbury to Kensington Gardens in the form of a giant multi-coloured tent. Renowned Spanish architects selgascano have created a chrysalis of opaque and translucent plastic polygons - complete with four entrances and “secret” corridors - which will host a daytime café and special events during the summer. ![]() Natural History Museum This month you can visit the Museum’s Wildlife Garden. A haven for thousands of British plants and animals, it brilliantly demonstrates wildlife conservation in an urban environment. It’s also a lovely place to stop with a snack and enjoy the sunshine. Other reasons to visit the museum this month include The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition (until 30th August); Coral Reefs: Secret Cities of the Sea (until 13th September) and Sensational Butterflies on the East Lawn (until 13th September.) ![]() Kensington Roof Gardens Our neighbour Kensington Rooof Gardens is once again hosting its Proms on The Roof on 5th and 12th August. From 6.30pm until 10pm, music lovers can leave the rush of the city behind and listen to classical and world music, New Orleans Jazz, a Latin Harp and sultry opera. ![]() V&A The phenomenal Alexander McQueen at the V&A you have just one more month to see : Savage Beauty retrospective as it closes on 2nd August. Not forgetting Shoes: Pleasure and Pain (until 31st January 2016), a fascinating exhibition displaying footwear from around the globe. ![]() Royal Albert Hall On Saturday 11th July for the first time ever and for one night only, the Royal Albert Hall will host the mythical, dangerous, acrobatic and heroic world of Mexico's masked wrestlers.
